Position as Assistant Professor in Aquatic Ecotoxicology and Water Quality at University of Amsterdam

The Institute for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Dynamics at the University of Amsterdam is accepting applications for the position of an assistant professor in the Department of Freshwater and Marine Ecology.

The role focusses on the ecological impact of pollutants on aquatic organisms and/or the environmental fate and distribution of pollutants in aquatic environments. Key responsibilities include:-

  • Conducting and developing high-quality research within the area of academic specialisation resulting in publications in leading academic journals.
  • Engaging and fostering collaboration within the institute, the university, and elsewhere in the Netherlands and abroad.
  • Collaborating with colleagues in the department in the fields of ecotoxicology, environmental chemistry, aquatic ecology and marine biology.
  • Supervising research of PhD candidates and postdocs.

Prospective candidates should hold a PhD in a relevant research field (e.g., ecotoxicology, water quality management, aquatic ecology, environmental chemistry) along with excellent laboratory skills and extensive knowledge of analytical techniques in ecotoxicology and water quality analysis. The candidate should have knowledge of statistical techniques and/or computational models in ecotoxicology.
