Baylor University is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Biology – Microbial Ecology/Environmental Genomics (tenure track). The position begins in Fall 2023.

Candidates should possess an earned doctorate in biology or closely related discipline. Applicants should have expertise in freshwater, coastal, or marine ecosystems. Ideal applicants will use molecular tools such as, but not limited to, (meta)genomic, (meta)transcriptomic, or other ‘omic’ or amplicon approaches to investigate population and/or community ecology of microorganisms, the role of microbes in biogeochemistry and freshwater/marine food webs, and microbial diversity.

The successful candidate will develop a vibrant, independent, and externally-funded research program with a record of refereed publications in high-quality journals; collaborate with faculty across the University; mentor and support graduate students; integrate undergraduates into research; teach at both the graduate and undergraduate levels; and actively promote diversity and inclusion in scholarly activities. 

Preferred qualifications include a strong publication record and extramurally funded research. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
