Postdoctoral Researcher Positions at Agroscope: Sustainability assessment in plant protection, and Plant protection products and soil fertility

Two Postdoctoral Research Positions Available at Agroscope. Sustainability Assessment in Plant Protection and Plant Protection Products and Soil Fertility.

Postdoctoral Researcher Position at Agroscope in Sustainability assessment in plant protection

Good food, a healthy environment
The Plant Protection Products – Effects and Evaluation research group combines comprehensive knowledge of plant protection products with expertise on their behavior and effects on the environment as well as their evaluation. In its projects, it combines experimental research with model approaches and data analyses, thus contributing to the interdisciplinary consideration of plant protection products in the context of agricultural use.
In an interdisciplinary project, plant protection strategies are to be evaluated based on the three pillars of sustainability (ecology, economy, and society). You will coordinate the overall project, define the plant protection strategies, work independently on the “Ecotoxicology” sub-project, and bring all sub-projects together.

Tasks

  • Coordination of an interdisciplinary research project in an agricultural and agricultural policy context
  • Definition of current and possible future plant protection strategies in fruit and arable farming
  • Evaluating the use of plant protection products and the ecotoxicological risks of these plant protection strategies using indicator models
  • Combining and analyzing the results of all sub-projects: Ecotoxicology, life cycle assessment, economic analysis, and social sustainability
  • Data management and synthesis of all partial results

Your profile

  • University degree in agricultural sciences or related subjects with a dissertation
  • Enjoy working with data, databases, and the R programming language, experience in plant protection with knowledge of ecotoxicology desirable
  • Ability to think in a networked way and willingness to collaborate across disciplines, knowledge of life cycle assessment, economic analysis, and/or socio-economics an advantage
  • Ability to work independently, interest in project management, and ability to represent own work to research partners and clients
  • Knowledge of two official languages and a very good command of English
