Postdoc research scientist in Biology at Bayer, Monheim am Rhein

Bayer AG, one of the world’s famous multinational companies, is accepting appplications for a postdoc research scientist in biology. The position involves working with bees while using machine learning techniques. The contract is for 2 years.

The main tasks of the position include (but is not limited to):-

  • Developing innovative entomological in vivo testing assays to assess effects of new chemical molecules on non-target insects (particularly bees).
  • Inventing novel digital-based phenotyping assays to enhance the mechanistic understanding of effects of chemical molecules on non-target insects.
  • Planning project tasks independently based on agreed priorities and deadlines.

The candidate should hold a PhD in biology or a related discipline with proven expertise in the conduct of in vivo bioassays on pollinators, pest species or aquatic invertebrates. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently in highly recommended. The candidate should also be able to handle and interpret data sets, possess strong familiarity with standard IT Tools (e.g. MS Office) and should be highly computer literate. Professional fluency in English, both spoken and written and basic knowledge (or more) in German is a surplus.
