The Umweltbundesamt is looking to fill two positions in the ecotoxicology and environmental risks of plant protection products area: Environmental Risk Assessor and Research Associate
Your tasks:
- Evaluation or assessment of ecotoxicity, bioaccumulation potential and environmental risk of chemical-synthetic, biological and other pesticides
- Scientific evaluation of application documents, including the examination of the validity and plausibility of study reports, preparation of evaluation reports, management requirements and technical statements
- Implementation of comparative evaluation of plant protection products
- Participation in the further development of tests and evaluation procedures for ecotoxicity, bioaccumulation potential and environmental risk assessment and management of plant protection products, also through the initiation and professional support of research and development projects
- Participation in the communication of environmental risks of plant protection products
- Participation in scientific policy advice, among other things, the Federal Government on issues of environmental risk regulation of plant protection products
- Presentation of the results of their work in national and international specialist publications and specialist events
- Representation of UBA in national and international expert committees
- Processing of tasks in interdisciplinary expert teams
Your profile:
- Completed scientific university degree (Master, University Diploma) in natural sciences or engineering, preferably biology, chemistry, geoecology, environmental science or a comparable degree programme, preferably with a PhD or equivalent skills and experience
- Comprehensive knowledge of environmental assessment and risk management of chemical and/or biological substances and/or microorganisms
- In-depth knowledge in the area of enforcement of laws of substance law and the related processes
- In-depth knowledge and experience of ecology and ecotoxicology, preferably through project work/in-terrestrial research
- Knowledge in the field of nature and water protection law is an advantage
- Good IT skills (especially for dealing with Microsoft SharePoint and databases)
- Independent, very committed, creative and open-minded working methods as well as target group-oriented communication, teamwork and gender competence
- Analytical thinking and ability to coherent reasoning
- Very good German and English language skills in writing
