The Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES) is offering a position as Expert in Ecotoxicology at the Institute for Plant Protection Products Department.
The task of the candidate :
- Preparation of scientific reports in accordance with the Plant Protection Products Act with regard to the ecotoxicological effects of plant protection products including risk assessment
- Evaluation of pesticide active substances in the field of ecotoxicology as part of the EU active substance review and preparation of assessment reports.
- Collaboration in the development of EU directives and guidance documents for the evaluation of plant protection products in the field of ecotoxicology
- Collaboration and networking in national and international expert committees (e.g. EU authorities, OECD)
Required qualifications
- Completed Master’s degree or doctorate in biology/zoology/ecology
- Good knowledge of one or more of the organism groups relevant to the assessment (birds & mammals, soil organisms, non-target arthropods, bees and aquatic organisms) as well as basic knowledge of ecotoxicology
- Experience and routine in analyzing, interpreting and evaluating scientific data
- Very good verbal and written communication skills (German and English)
- Experienced IT user skills (MS Office, statistics programs)
- Enjoy collaboration and professional exchange in a team
- High degree of independence and sense of responsibility
- Basic willingness to travel (at home and abroad)
