ETH Zürich is accepting applications for the position of a PhD candidate for a project involving environmental chemistry and toxicology. The PhD project is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2023.
In this project, the link between contaminant exposure of organic contaminants and effects on key freshwater invertebrate species (Gammarus pulex and Hyalella azteca) will be studied by using a variety of laboratory experiments including uptake-elimination experiments, receptor binding assays and behavioral studies using video tracking.
Prospective applicants should hold a master degree in biology, chemistry or en-vironmental sciences and a strong interest to work interdisciplinary at the interface between biology and chemistry. Previous hands-on experience with organic environmental chemistry, mass spectrometry, and experimentation with aquatic invertebrates would be an advantage. Experience in programming (e.g., R, MATLAB or Python) is an asset.
