The Umweltbundesamt is looking for an Ecotoxicologist for an unlimited employment relationship for the field IV 2.4 “Ecotoxicological laboratory”.
Your tasks:
- Establishment of NAMs (new approach methodologies) in particular genomics, transcriptomics or metabolomics and their evaluation for use in ecotoxicological testing methods
- Establishment and development of biochemical and molecular biological biomarkers for the detection of ecotoxicological mechanisms of action in vitro and in vivo
- Independent and independent planning, implementation, evaluation of ecotoxicological investigations in vitro and in vivo and their presentation at specialist conferences as well as independent preparation of publications in specialist journals
- Further development and adaptation of standardised test methods according to OECD, DIN and ISO standard
- Acquisition and management of research projects in the collaborative environment (internal and external)
- Management of laboratory staff and supervision of students (e.g. in the context of internships/work theses)
Your profile:
- Completed university studies, doctorate, and several years of experience in scientific research with corresponding publication activities, ideally with a focus on aquatic ecotoxicology or comparable subject
- Ability to create scientific publications and research applications
- Communication skills, organisational skills and gender competence as well as teamwork in interdisciplinary work
- Very good German and English language skills
- Desirable: Experience with genomics, transcriptomics or metabolomics and their evaluation, knowledge of working with bioinformatics tools and understanding common bioinformatics algorithms
