2 PhD positions in Ecotoxicology at the University of Ghent

The University of Ghent in Belgium is offering 2 paid PhD positions in the field of ecotoxicology.

1. PhD position in ecotoxicology of pharmaceuticals

The position is a part of the Department of Animal Sciences and Aquatic Ecology and is embedded in the EU Horizons 2020 project TransPharm‘.It aims to transform the pharma industry to a more sustainable one. The role in the project will be to assess the ecotoxicity and risk of existing and newly designed pharmaceuticals and their degradation products.

Candidates are expected to hold a master’s degree in environmental engineering, bioscience engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, ecotoxicology, environmental science, environmental technology or equivalent. They should have a good command in oral and written English and shoudl be willing to relocate to Belgium for the duration for the position.

2. PhD position in ecotoxicology of mixtures

The position is a part of the Department of Animal Sciences and Aquatic Ecology and is embedded in the MEEDmix project , which aims to investigate ecotoxicity and risk of (complex) environmentally realistic mixtures of metals and organic micropollutants. The role in the project is to perform (monitoring) database analysis, ecotoxicity testing, and field validation (or mechanistic modeling).

Candidates are expected to hold a master’s degree in environmental engineering, bioscience engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, ecotoxicology, environmental science, environmental technology or equivalent. They should have a good command in oral and written English and shoudl be willing to relocate to Belgium for the duration for the position.
