Permanent position for an Ecological Modeller (m/f/d)

The Ecological Modelling and Statistics team at RIFCON GmbH is currently looking for an experienced Ecological Modeller to join the team on a permanent basis.

These tasks are waiting for you:

  • Application of ecological models (simulation / dynamic models) in the context of environmental risk assessments for various organism groups under chemical exposure
  • Design, implementation, documentation, and further development of ecological and ecotoxicological models
  • Analysis, summary and interpretation of model results
  • Scientific reporting and publication
  • Independent management of small- and medium-sized projects

You convince us with:

  • Scientific background in natural sciences such as  ecology modelling, applied system science, biology, geoecology, or a similar discipline
  • Knowledge of a (high-level) programming language (e.g., R, Python)
  • Relevant experience in:
    • Developing, documenting and evaluating dynamic models
    • Application of mechanistic effect models in applied contexts, ideally in environmental risk assessment  of  chemicals
    • Reviewing and assessing data from studies and literature for use in modelling approaches
    • Analysis of ecological and/or ecotoxicological data, ideally with experience in advanced statistical and/or computational approaches
  • Project management skills
  • Excellent oral and written English skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects in parallel
  • Self-motivated with the wish to work in a team
  • Enthusiasm to apply your skills and develop creative solutions for complex questions in environmental risk assessment
