Position as Research Data Management Officer (Data Steward) at IGB

IGB Berlin is accepting applications for the position of a Data Steward for a project at lake Müggelsee. The position has to be filled as soon as possible.

Responsibilites and tasks include (but is not limited to):-

  1. Advising and supporting researchers with a focus on data management plans, metadata schemas and publication of research data according to FAIR principles.
  2. Providing support to researchers on how they can improve their data quality control.
  3. Raising researchers’ awareness of sustainable data management according to good scientific practice.
  4. Coordinating participation in external working groups and networks (e.g., NFDI, LTER).

Prospective candidates should have completed academic university studies (master’s degree, diploma or equivalent) in a field relevant to the job, doctorate and/or additional qualification in the field of data/information management. Very good knowledge of scientific data management and current developments in open data, open science, and reproducible research is required. Experience with digital research data and processes and related tools such as repositories, metadata schemas, Git, data archiving, SQL applications and databases is a plus. Excellent communication skills in English is required (German is an advantage).
