The UBA is participating in an EU project with the aim of using monitoring data on pollution and enrichment in terrestrial food chains to develop a better understanding of the negative effects of pollutants on terrestrial biodiversity and its ecosystem services.
Main tasks include:
- Analysis of the relevant environmental and substance legislation with regard to the protection of biodiversity.
- Derivation of suitable risk management instruments/political instruments (policies) in order to reduce long-term negative effects on terrestrial organisms and biodiversity.
- Collaboration in an international project with seven European partners.
- Exchange with experts from authorities, science and other relevant areas.
- Consolidation of the collected knowledge in the form of joint publications, working documents, discussion papers and reports.
- Presentation of the results to national and international specialist audiences.
Required qualifications include:-
- Completed university degree in law, politics or natural sciences (master’s degree, university diploma), preferably in law, political science or comparable.
- In-depth knowledge of environmental and chemical law; knowledge and experience in related legal areas that deal with species and biodiversity protection are advantageous.
- Ability to write texts with complex scientific results and environmental policy content and to present them to a broad public in an understandable manner, proven by relevant publications.
- Goal-oriented and independent work, ability to work in a team and gender competence.
- Fluent English language skills and experience working in international team.
