EcotoxBlog welcomes newbies of Master’s in Environmental Pollution Management (Ecotoxicology) for the year 2022

In this post, Carsten Brühl and Jakob Wolfram welcome the cohort 2022 of the Master’s in Environmental Pollution Management (Ecotoxicology) here in Landau. Twenty-three students will study how environmental stressors can adversely impact our environments and how these risks can be alleviated.

The EcotoxBlog welcomes the cohort of 2022 of the Master’s in Environmental Pollution Management (Ecotoxicology) here at the Institute for Environmental Sciences in Landau. Twenty international students made it to Landau this year. Our new students come from all corners of the globe with diverse educational backgrounds, such as Nanochemistry, Ecology, Environmental Engineering and Microbiology. Still, they all share a common goal: Uncovering how environmental stressors adversely impact our environments and how we can alleviate these issues in the future.

Picture 1: A glimpse of this year’s newcomers in M.Sc. Environmental Pollution Management (Ecotoxicology). Student representatives (Hajar Bourassi and Danisa Lione) highlighted on the top right corner.

During their time here in Landau, the students will learn more about:

  • tracing, detecting and quantifying chemicals
  • the interaction of environmental stressor with varying environments
  • how to apply statistical and geoinformational tools
  • planning , conducting, and analyzing ecotoxicological tests
  • good laboratory practice (GLP)
  • ecological and landscape-level modelling
  • regulatory frameworks, risk assessment, and risk management

We are excited to integrate the new students into our curriculum and research activities here in Landau!

Student representatives

We are particularly thankful to Hajar Bourassi (Morocco, MSc Marine resources conservation) and Danisa Lione (Argentina, BEng Environmental Engineering) for taking over the position of student representatives. They will support the cohort 2022 by keeping an eye out for everyone, communicating organizational issues, making us aware of any challenges or room for improvement within our Master’s course. Thus, thank you very much for taking on that responsibility and extra work to improve the study experience of everyone!
