Today we welcome the 2024 cohort of the Master’s in Environmental Pollution Management (Ecotoxicology) here in Landau. Starting this October, twenty-two students will study how environmental stressors impact ecosystems, and how these risks can be mitigated.
The EcotoxBlog welcomes the twenty-two students of the cohort of 2024 of the Master’s in Environmental Pollution Management (Ecotoxicology) at the Institute for Environmental Sciences in Landau. The new students come from all over the world and have diverse academic backgrounds, from plant biology and zoology to bioscience and chemistry, with the common goal of learning more about the developing scientific and regulatory field of ecotoxicology.
During their time here in Landau, the students will learn about:
- Environmental Toxicology, and the interaction of environmental stressors,
- Environmental Chemistry, including tracing, detecting and quantifying chemicals,
- Statistics & Modelling, like applying geo-information tools and interpreting models,
- Regulatory Frameworks (REACH),
- how to perform Risk Assessment and Management,
- and planning, conducting, and analyzing ecotoxicological tests, according to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
We hope the new students have made the most of the first two free weeks of October to get familiar with life in Germany and have enjoyed the activities organized by the International Office and ESN. Now we wish them a great start to the semester, success in their academic journey, and unforgettable experiences both in and outside the classroom.
