Indiana University is looking for a post-doctoral research associate.  

The candidate will work on a newly funded NIH project aimed at studying the environmental exposure to PAHs and FR in communities near mountain top mining facilities in West Virginia, USA.  This post-doc will be primarily responsible for laboratory work, including using gas chromatographic mass spectrometry (GC/MS), statistical and geographic data analyses, and manuscript writing.  Other responsibilities may include assistance with general laboratory operations and student or staff supervision.

The minimum qualifications are a Ph.D. in environmental or analytical chemistry or environmental engineering.  The successful candidate should have demonstrated an ability to work independently and in a large research group.  Organizational proficiency and strong oral and written communication skills (in English) are essential.  Experience in organic extraction and chemical analyses using mass spectrometry and in the analysis of flame retardant chemicals and other persistent organic pollutants are desired.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications.  The initial appointment at Indiana University will be for one year, with possibilities for extension to a second year if funding permits.  The starting date is flexible.
