The Unilever Safety and Environmental Assurance Centre (SEAC) has released two latest job postings with a strong focus on environmental risk assessment.

1. Position as an environmental exposure modeller

The job holder will work with teams to develop modelling solutions to better understand environmental exposure/ fate of our ingredients. They will develop both screening level and higher tier/ bespoke models that provide new understanding and insights where traditional approaches fail or are inadequate. The job holder will be required to apply these approaches to support environmental risk assessment and environmental safety decisions and make recommendations on future research needs.

Eligibility requirements include a Masters or PhD qualification in a relevant scientific/technical discipline (e.g. chemistry, geography, hydrology, mathematics, environmental science) and/or experience in relevant mathematical modelling, environmental exposure or modelling fate of chemicals in the environment.

2. Position as an environmental risk assesssor

The job holder will work with teams to plan and conduct environmental risk assessments and identify where knowledge may be incomplete. The job holder will look to develop novel approaches/research to support environmental risk assessment that provide new understanding and insights where traditional approaches fail or are inadequate. The role requires knowledge to integrate leading edge science across all areas of environmental safety and to recommend appropriate management measures and options arising from environmental risk assessment outcomes.

Eligibility requirements include at least a Masters qualification in a relevant scientific/technical discipline (e.g. chemistry, environmental science) with experience in relevant approaches for assessing the fate and/or effects of chemicals in the environment.
